ELEGY FOR AL

 Elegy for AL




Shuffling, screaming, crying, arguing, the world was loud.

Was.

For once, the sound of something small disrupted that barrier.

Silence, a shifting.


The boldness, the creativeness, the acceptance.

It crumpled beneath the grave I stood at.

They have impersonated the wilting of their favorite flower.

I heard the sound of petals dropping, however small.



Their death was not boastful, but it was loud.

They had not vanished, despite their physical disappearance

Though their accomplishments had stopped, they were still vivid.

A comfortable noise rises in their place.
