Dear 4th Grade Wayne,

When you are going into the fourth grade there will be a virus that overcomes the world. This virus was called the corona virus or more commonly known as Covid-19. During the pandemic of covid-19 everyone you knew had to stay at home for the whole 4th grade school year. While you and your family were staying at home the school was providing you with homework packets and lunch for you students. Covid-19 affected me because I couldn’t see my friends for a whole year.

Fourth grade me will go ahead and do my assignments at home and follow the directions. During the pandemic you will try to stay fit and healthy. You will also wear a mask in public areas. You will get a really bad case of Covid-19 but you take medications to not make it worse. You also passed all of your classes and went to the fifth grade.

Now you fought through grade school and had good grades. You were also able to apply for the Trio Upward Bound program. Now you are spending your summer of 2025 in the trio upward bound summer program.

I’m sure you’ve had at least one person give you a weird look, even though you don’t know who they are or who they are. They just judged you on appearance. They believe in a stereotype. Regardless of this, or how common it is, there is no such thing as a universally true stereotype. This is a simple belief, and even if people disagree, they cannot prove it wrong. It is a fact. You can say all people of [group] are [thing], but you’re wrong. If you’re right, it’s not a stereotype. And if it’s not a stereotype, it's not an issue. It is then not an opinion, which may be offensive, put simply. If I said “All adults are rude,” I’d be wrong. That’s a simple stereotype. Point out even a single outlier, and you’ve proven someone wrong in their stereotypical beliefs.
