Dear 8th Grade Fay Marie,

When you are in the middle of your freshman year, you will join a program. It is called TRIO Upward Bound, and it is a program where you get paid to do your homework. You will get your homework done faster. You will go to this program every Monday and Wednesday in the library, and you will stay all the way to 4:30.


In the summer, you will join summer TRIO. Like school days you will go Monday through Friday 9 A.M. - 3: 20 P.M. You will be dropped off at WVC Parking lot and will ride a bus to Olney IECC. It is really fun and you’ll get to meet new people.


The classes are very fun and easy. Your schedule is like this: Math, Spanish, English, then you have lunch, Robotics, then Comp & Lit, then you leave. The most fun class is robotics, it’s easy and you get to work with robots, and learn really cool things. Your counselors are there for you to talk to, because your brother will get very worse, and you will have a panic attack.

I’m sure you’ve had at least one person give you a weird look, even though you don’t know who they are or who they are. They just judged you on appearance. They believe in a stereotype. Regardless of this, or how common it is, there is no such thing as a universally true stereotype. This is a simple belief, and even if people disagree, they cannot prove it wrong. It is a fact. You can say all people of [group] are [thing], but you’re wrong. If you’re right, it’s not a stereotype. And if it’s not a stereotype, it's not an issue. It is then not an opinion, which may be offensive, put simply. If I said “All adults are rude,” I’d be wrong. That’s a simple stereotype. Point out even a single outlier, and you’ve proven someone wrong in their stereotypical beliefs. One moment I can point out here that I’ve had to learn this was when I was playing an online game, and when I tried to talk to someone they said something rude.
